Cyprus v Kosovo Match Preview: UEFA Nations League
Teams Looking for First Win in Group
For the second time in the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League, Cyprus and Kosovo face off in this League C fixture. Both sides will be looking to register their first wins of the competition after defeats in their opening fixtures. Here is the lowdown on the match.
Team Previews
Cyprus lost 1-0 in Northern Ireland on match-day one. Despite having slightly more of the possession, the visitors failed to register a single shot on target and will be looking to provide a greater attacking threat in this one. Star man Ioannis Pittas failed to make the scoresheet in Belfast but will be one to keep an eye on in this match.
Kosovo will feel they should have taken something from their opening Nations League match against Greece. Despite going behind in the first half, the away side battled back through Albion Ajeti's superb strike on 64 minutes. However, they were unable to find a winner and will be disappointed not to have started the campaign with at least a point.
Both teams will see this match as a great opportunity to get their Nations League campaign up and running and with a number of players in both squads playing their club football in the other nation's domestic league, there is sure to be added spice to this fixture.
Cyprus will be the happier of the two sides with the draw as they will have home advantage in this match. The GSP Stadium in Nicosia is sure to be rocking as the home fans get behind their team.
Kosovo will be looking to spoil the party and cause an upset in the Cyprus capital. They have a number of dangerous players in their squad and will be confident of getting a result if they can perform to their potential.
Prediction
This is a tough match to call with both teams evenly matched but Cyprus may just edge it due to the home advantage.
Cyprus 1-0 Kosovo
