Pune Civic Body Implements Measures to Curb Mosquito Breeding

Six Infections Confirmed, Including Two Pregnant Women

The Pune Municipal Corporation has initiated various measures to control mosquito breeding in the wake of a sudden surge in Zika virus cases in the city. As of now, six individuals, including two pregnant women, have been confirmed infected with the virus.

Pune has reported its first instance of a pregnant woman being infected by Zika. This elevates the overall number of cases to five since the virus's resurgence. The first case in the city was reported from Erandwane, where a 46-year-old doctor tested positive.

Currently, a 46-year-old doctor and his teenage daughter in Pune have been diagnosed with the Zika virus. While they are both in stable health, authorities are closely monitoring their condition. The virus's reappearance in western India has raised concerns.
